It can be nobody’s case in the country that the JNU students were right in raising slogans against India and for Pakistan, but is shouting of the objectionable slogans by 100 or 200 students out of 120 crore Indians a cause for creating a hysteria and to be baying for the misguided young men’s blood ? Some faithful TV channels have not only been hysterical but been acting as the leader of a lynch mob .But it must be remembered that India is not yet the Sangh’s Hindu Rashtra with Modiji as its P.M. India is still a democracy where the rule of law must prevail .What is the crime the young men have committed? They raised slogans in favour of Pakistan ,a country with which our relation is bad which the P.M is trying hard to woo. Is it a crime to shout a slogan in favour of a country not at war with India with which our relation is not good ? Are the citizens of India obliged to say ‘Jindabad or Murdabad’ about a country with the prior permission of the government ? Would it be be Desh Droh (treason) to shout ‘ Chin Zindabad ‘because China has occupied a large area of our territory and continues its game of intruding in our territory from time to time ?

A crime is defined by the law of the land and not by a howling mob of organizations regularly indulging in the anti-national act of dividing the citizens of the country to make them fight one another .There is no crime recognised as ‘Desh Droh ‘ in the country .There is a provision in the Indian Penal Code against sedition (s124A) enacted in 1870 to subjugate the Indians who raised their voice against the British government .This imperial law meant to subjugate the subjects (Praja ) of the British empire has been retained by the rulers of Indian Republic to suppress the citizens .The law says that if anyone does or says (by words written or spoken or by making any sign etc ) anything to create ‘disaffection ‘(opposite of affection ) against the government he would be guilty of sedition and may be punished with a sentence of death or life term .This law is misused by all parties in power on the drop of a hat to suppress dissent .Sedition ,as defined ,is anti-democratic and is a nail in the coffin of a democracy .It is sinister and ridiculous at the same time .It is sinister as it is being used to suppress dissent or settle scores and ridiculous because in a democracy the opposition parties work day and night to create “disaffection “against the government to ask the people to throw it out of power at the next election .Though shouting ‘Pakistan Jindabad ‘ or ‘Bharat ko Barbad Kar Denge ‘ can by no stretch of imagination be covered by the law on sedition .the chances are the students of JNU would be charged with it and a conspiracy to commit this crime .By abusing and misusing this law , the governments ensure that the arrested person remains in jail for a long time before the misuse of the law is proved .

IF THE STUDENTS ARE NOT RELEASED IMMEDIATELY AND ARE DETAINED UNDER THIS LAW OR ANY OTHER LAW ON FALSE CHARGES THE GOVERNMENT WOULD BE GUILTY OF “JANTANTRA DROH. THE GOVERNMENT HAS ACTED AS THE AGENT OF THE SANGH TO TEACH THEM A LESSON FOR DARING TO DEMONSTRATE BEFORE THE SANGH’S OFFICE .

The hysteria created against the students for raising slogans against Afzal Guru’s execution by the Sangh Parivar and their government , which remain deaf, blind and dumb to the Hindu Maha Sabha’s celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s murder , observing the day of Godse’s hanging as ” Shaheed Divas” and their project to build temples to make a god of his murderer lets the cat out of the bag .The whole thing gladdens their hearts because to the RSS Mahatma Gandhi and all freedom fighters are “traitors “( as declared in M.S.Golwarkar’s book We or Our Nationhood Defined ,1938) , but now they dare not reveal their understanding with the British Government and betrayal of India .But when the people who find celebration of Gandhiji’s murder and deification ( making a god ) of his murderer welcome /acceptable , create hysteria over some people holding Afzal Guru’s conviction or execution an erroneous judgment /act their hypocrisy and sinister design is exposed .It is not only the handful of students but also judges , legal luminaries and others with an unimpeachable character who hold a similar view .

Aware that the conduct of the students would outrage the people in general , the Sangh and its protege government seized the opportunity to create a mass hysteria to mobilize popular support for its plan to capture JNU, as it has been capturing and destroying other institutions of excellence or repute .There, is no other explanation for the government’s conduct so far and declaring JNU as a citadel of anti-national activities just because a handful of students raised pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans howsoever objectionable they may be .
